This is the second of our small group workshops in the programme. If you are interested in completing the full Tea Foundations programme please take a look at Workshop 1. Our workshops will be limited to 6 to ensure an interactive and immersive tea experience to all attendees.
Our 2022 Tea Foundations programme consists of 4 topics that will be delivered over 2 half-day workshops. Please refer to the detailed programme here.
Workshop 2 covers the first 2 tea topics (TF.3 and TF.4).
TF.3 Tea Foundations 3
An overview of common tea tools and infusion methods.
An exploration of oolong tea. You will learn more about this type of tea and gain an appreciation for the sheer diversity in the styles, processing, and craft necessary to create quality oolong tea. We will focus on Chinese and Taiwanese oolongs but will also look at some of the other growing regions creating these teas. You will have the opportunity to professionally cup a number of samples of these styles of oolong tea.
We will review brewing parameters for oolong teas.
TF.4 Tea Foundations 4
An overview of teas chemical composition
An exploration of black tea. You will learn more about this type of tea and some of the processing techniques to create different styles of this tea. We will focus on the major black tea production regions including India, Sri Lanka and China and we will also look at a couple of other terroirs for black tea.
We will review brewing parameters for black teas.
Provide some guidance on how to continue on your tea journey.
Each attendee will also receive a tea sampler gift pack including a selection of the teas tasted during the workshop.

Our Tea Foundations programme is suitable for anyone that has an interest in tea. The content of the workshop has been developed for those with no pre-assumed tea knowledge. Please note that Workshop 1 is not a pre-requisite for Workshop 2.
This workshop may not be suitable for people with caffeine sensitivity as all pure leaf tea from camellia sinensis contain caffeine.

COVID safe events
We follow the protocols set out in Queensland Government's COVID safe event checklist. Please appreciate in this current climate rapid changes to events can occur. While we will do our best to deliver the event as planned, modifications may be required, at short notice.
Seating will be arranged based on the booking numbers. If you have purchased individual tickets but would like to sit together as a group please email me to arrange.
Meals & Dietary Requirements
If the workshop includes meals, attendees are asked to notify The Steepery Tea Co. of any special dietary requirements when making the booking.
Payment and cancellation procedures
Where charges apply, The Steepery Tea Co.workshops must be paid for in advance by credit or debit card.
We are unable to issue refunds or exchanges for cancellation on the part of the attendee. However, tickets can be transferred to another guest for the same session.
The Steepery Tea Co. reserves the right to cancel or alter any workshop. All workshop dates and times are subject to change, but The Steepery Tea Co. will endeavour to ensure workshops are held on the committed dates/times, unless there are exceptional circumstances, such as the host/s being unable to attend due to illness, or other unforeseen circumstances. The Steepery Tea Co. will inform the participants with as much notice as possible on these occasions.
We require a minimum of 6 attendees for the workshop to go ahead. In the event that the workshop does not go ahead as scheduled, you will be offered a refund in full.
Should a cancellation become necessary by the The Steepery Tea Co. the attendee will have the choice of attending an alternative workshop (and where this is a lower price, The Steepery Tea Co. will refund the difference), or withdrawing from the workshop and, where applicable, accepting a refund of the cost of that specific workshop to The Steepery Tea Co.
No cancellation penalties (including travel expenses to and from the workshop, or accommodation costs) will be paid out in the event of workshop cancellations by The Steepery Tea Co.
