A rounded oolong tea that has a beautiful citrus flavour and a sweet floral finish that is reminiscent of orchids and honey. This tea is refreshing and well balanced. 

The tea is seasonally produced once a year. Grapefruit flowering occurs early in Spring for a short period. The largest concentration of flowers are available for harvest in March to late April.

Pomelo’s are a large citrus fruit that has a flavour of mild grapefruit. Selection of pomelo flowers suitable for scenting is very strict with only unblemished, full-grown, mature, white flowers that are high in aroma being used.

White bud chelan is a mellow, rounded and highly aromatic. It creates a beautiful base for the pomelo scenting.  

Origin: Pinghe, Zhangzhou, Fujian, China

Processing highlights: The scenting process has been carried out traditionally to preserve the flower and ensure the fragrance is transferred to the semi-balled oolong. It is critical that the ratio of tea to pomelo flowers is optimal to produce a high grade of scented tea.

Zhangzhou is located in the south end of Fujian Province and neighbors Guangdong province in the southwest. It is separated from Taiwan by the Taiwan Strait in the east.

Pomelo scented Chelan produces a well-balanced infusion that has delicate citrus notes and a delicious sweet finish that resembles orchids and honey.

This tea is lovely to drink on it’s own and will make a perfect accompaniment to sweets and fruit dishes. Try this tea with a single-origin dark chocolate that has fruity notes (e.g., Madagascar or Australia).
