Our Hojicha Powder is made from finely ground roasted green tea grown straight from the tea farm of the Watanabe family. 

Our Hojicha is rich and rounded with a sweet biscuity aroma reminiscent of roasted nuts and toast. Hojicha Powder provides a versatile way to experience the naturally sweet taste and the pleasant aroma of Japanese roasted green tea.

Tea Master: Grown and produced by the Watanabe family 

Yakushima is located in the southernmost part of Japan. It benefits from a warm geographical location and high rainfall. It produces Japan’s earliest high quality shincha. Located in the Kagoshima prefecture, 90% of the island is covered in forest and in 1993 approximately 21% of the island was declared a UNESCO world heritage site.

A rich yet light with a sweet biscuity flavour, reminiscent of toast and roasted nuts.

An excellent hojicha powder to prepare and serve, the foam is easy to achieve resulting in a superior texture and mouthfeel.

Leaf appearance: finely ground roasted green tea.

Aroma: Hojicha has an intense aroma of toast and roasted nuts followed by a bouquet of fresh hay and woody tail notes.

Liquor colour: Brown

Brewing & Storage

Using a chasen (bamboo whisk), whisk the matcha in a W or M motion in the bowl until a jade froth forms.

Milk, soy, rice or almond milk can be added to make a matcha tea latte or serve over ice to make an iced matcha latte.
