A full-bodied rounded black tea that has a distinct pine smoke flavour leaving an initial savoury impression. Subsequent infusions reveal fruity notes and a long lasting sweetness in the mouth.
We are pleased to present a traditional Lapsang Souchong that is made from authentic Tong Mu Guan leaves and smoked traditionally by the Chen family. The strength and distinctive smokiness give the tea unique character and if treated with respect reveals a beautiful tea.
Whilst this tea is perfectly suited to drink today this tea will mature well and will mellow in subsequent years.

Processing highlights: This tea is finished as a black tea and undergoes a post-finished process. The leaves are placed on a bamboo basket and sent to dedicated roasting room reserved for pine tree smoking.

The Wuyi mountain ranges are located in both Fujian and Jiangxi province. The Fujian province has a long history of tea cultivation of Lapsang Souchong.
Wuyi Shan is a mountainous area that is naturally protected and provides favourable growing conditions. The region has relatively high humidity levels, high rainfall and fog is common.

This black tea is complex exhibiting both savoury and sweet characteristics. The initial impression from drinking the tea liquor is reminiscent of smoky bacon, this mellows with subsequent infusions to highlight more complex fruit notes.
Lapsang Souchong makes a great blending ingredient and we encourage you to experiment by adding this ingredient to your cup or plate.
Lapsang Souchong is very well suited to cooking as the smoky characteristics are taken on by the food without having to smoke the food. Pairs well with savouries, pork, lamb, game and is ideal with cheese.
Try this with crystallised citrus fruit dipped in dark chocolate or lamb empanadas.
