Let me tell you a little bit of what I have learned about Japanese withered teas and in particular the delightful new entry into my tea catalogue, Yumewakaba. Let me start here, a quote from the producer, Mr Shmizu. “…there is no need to be as “same“ as Taiwanese tea. We explore our own originality to improve the depth of Yumewakaba withering tea in its own right.”

Jasmine Dragon Pearls (also known as Buddha's Tears or Mo Li Hua Long Zhu) is a seemingly straight forward scented green tea. But it has become clear to me that it is so much more.  I have considered removing it from my tea catalogue many times. But people love this tea, for me personally it offers a familiar happiness around those rare Chinese restaurant visits I had as a child. Tea Travels: Japan (eating tea leaves)

When I think of Japanese tea culture it immediately conjures up images of the Japanese Tea Ceremony. An elaborate and refined ritual of preparing and serving green tea. In all honesty, these images discouraged me from learning more about Japanese tea for a long time as I felt ill-equipped to understand and comprehend "The Way of Tea". Tea travels: Japan (firstly, the fun stuff)

Japan has an extensive and rich tea culture. It made the perfect travel destination to enjoy a family holiday and combine a little bit of tea schooling. In the first part of our tea travel post I have included all the fun aspects of our tea experience in Japan.
