Calling all Melbourne tea enthusiasts! On Sunday, 29 May 2016 the inaugural Melbourne Tea Festival is being held at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. The organisers behind the brilliant Sydney Tea Festival have now added Melbourne to the line-up and it promises to be an excellent day out for tea lovers.
Whilst The Steepery Tea Co. is Brisbane based and focussed on enhancing the tea experience for our local community we are big supporters of tea events occurring across Australia. These events showcase a broad range of tea businesses and promotes innovation and better tea experiences for us all.
Whilst we won’t be in attendance at the Melbourne Tea Festival this year we will be there in spirit.
We are the proud sponsors of the Tea and Food Pairing workshop to be hosted by tea specialist, Flag & Spear Tea Hunters, and bespoke caterers, In the Art of Entertaining. We have provided the tea for this event and are thrilled you will have an opportunity to sample The Steepery Tea Co's fine teas. This is a ticketed event so head over to the festivals website to book your tickets. Not only will you experience unique tea and food pairings you will also learn the basics of flavour theory.
Take a look at the other workshops taking place over the course of the day, as this is a great chance to learn from the industry's best and expand your tea knowledge.
In addition to the workshops, there appears to be some excellent tea businesses exhibiting in the Tea Market. Entry to the festival is $12 (pre-sale purchased via the festivals website) or $15 on the door that includes a tasting cup to allow you to sample all of the tea and tisane delights you can manage.
One of The Steepery Tea Co's very own teaware makers, Yesha Macdonald, will be showcasing her gorgeous handcrafted pieces. We know she has been working like a crazy potter lady (as described in her own words) and there will be some very special pieces created just for this event. Look out for Yesha and leave the festival with your very own artisanal teaware.
Enjoy and happy tea brewing!
